Despite having their former AWPer and coach promoted to the main team last month, MOUZ NXT have remained the dominant side in the academy circuit. MOUZ NXT have completed the WePlay Academy League three-peat, claiming their third consecutive title in the third season of the junior league with a grand final victory over BIG Academy. Question marks arose around the MOUZ NXT squad at the beginning of the year after they lost a key player in AWPer Ádám "torzsi" Torzsás and their coach, Dennis "sycrone" Nielsen, to the main lineup, but the third season saw the European mixture look just as dominant as before with their new player Miłosz "mhL" Knasiak and coach Tobias "TOBIZ" Theo. After a convincing run through the group stage, they passed Astralis Talent in the upper bracket semi-finals, which turned out to be their most difficult series as they then went on to beat the recently bolstered BIG Academy team in two consecutive 2-0 series. Although unsuccessful in the end, BIG Academy will look back at this season seeing clear progress. The overhaul the Germans underwent at the beginning of the year seems to have paid off, as they picked up a runners-up finish after placing fourth in the previous two seasons. Despite starting off slow on Vertigo in the grand final rematch, the favorites showed why they have been touted as the most stacked team, getting bailed out by Jon "JDC" de Castro on multiple occasions, with the soon-to-be main team's stand-in at IEM Katowice stepping up to the plate with a couple of big clutches on the CT side. In the second half it was Hubert "szejn" Światły who won a key 1v2 for MOUZ NXT after they got off to another slow start, helping them get on top of the economy game before several timely rotations to the B site caught BIG Academy with their pants down and saw the European mixture secure the opener 16-12. The German squad managed to hold their own on Ancient at first, but another JDC clutch put MOUZ NXT in the driving seat on the Terrorist side and keep the advantage. BIG Academy went on to equalize things on the back of a pistol round victory, but they immediately fell at the hands of an mhL scout triple in the following round, and the favorites ran away with the map from that point on, never to look back.
